Trans people are people. To hear some anti-trans activists, they miss that point completely. Too often the trans community is demonized into monsters or, if possible, worse. There are too many misperceptions, misunderstandings, myths, and outright lies about trans people that are too readily shared. Sadly, many of these are perpetuated by community and government leaders and public officials who ought to know better. And, perhaps it is because trans people are people, those who are not trans may not appreciate the ramifications: prejudice, discrimination, and constant fear of physical danger with which no one should have to live.
Please join us for a moderated conversation with some trans rock star lawyers for a candid discussion about being trans, the trans community, trans lawyers, and how we can foster greater and more meaningful allyship with, and inclusion of, the trans community within the legal profession.
Speakers:
Kylar W. Broadus, Attorney at Law, LLC
Shannon Minter, Legal Director, National Center for Lesbian Rights
Rachel V. See (moderator), Senior Counsel, Seyfarth Shaw LLP
