Inclusion asks us to move beyond comfort and sameness, and toward respect, understanding, dignity, and care. Many of us are reminded of that every day through the animals we love, whose presence in our lives teaches patience, connection, and regard for lives lived differently from our own. These relationships remind us that care can extend beyond familiarity, and that ‘difference’ is not something to fear, but something we can embrace with joy and compassion.
