Courtesy of pop culture, many Americans stereotype the LGBTQ+ community as relatively affluent, cisgender, white males. While it is important to include and embrace that segment of society, in reality, the LGBTQ+ community is much more diverse, leading to a richer, more robust, and more multifaceted community than many appreciate. Moreover, other segments of other communities that fall under the heading “diverse,” need to better recognize and understand the LGBTQ+ diversity in their own communities. LGBTQ+ is not a separate silo but rather a dimension of identity that cuts across all other dimensions of identity and diversity.

In honor of Pride Month, the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession (“IILP”) is pleased to present a program examining LGBTQ+ intersectionality. How can gay, white, cisgender men be better friends and allies to everyone else within the LGBTQ+ community? How can women and racial/ethnic minority groups better include and demonstrate allyship to those in their communities who are LGBTQ+? How is the LGBTQ+ community including those members who have disabilities or belong to religious minority groups?

Join us for a different kind of conversation about LGBTQ+ pride and allyship.
