At the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession (“IILP”) we work to make the legal profession the best it can be. We do this through our programs, research, and other activities, always asking everyone to think critically, ask hard questions – and listen to any answers with an open mind and heart. We examine the evidence, consider alternative experiences and explanations, and reaffirm the value placed upon honesty, integrity, and the Rule of Law. These practices should be commonplace, and yet history and experience suggest they are not. At IILP, they are foundational to our mission: to make the legal profession one where anyone with the requisite talent, aptitude, determination, and integrity can enter it and rise as high within it as those abilities will permit.

In that way, the legal profession becomes one where the talent pool expands to truly include the best and the brightest for the benefit of clients, the justice system, and society. Research has shown that inclusion of that bigger, broader, and more competitive pool of talent results in better outcomes. It can feel like a challenging goal but at IILP we’ve been modeling it since our founding. We invite you to join us in making the legal profession truly inclusive for the benefit of us all.”
